memo. do. focus.

A local-first task manager. Capture loose thoughts, break them into actionable to-dos, and track your focus with streaks and adherence rates.

In private beta · Public release expected Q3 2026

Three pillars

The name carries the whole product

Mo · do · cus — memo, do, focus.

memo · capture

One line of natural language and it is in. "Tomorrow 3pm submit report #work !!" — parsed for time, tag, and priority in one go.

do · break it down

Inbox, projects, subtasks, attachments, recurrence, estimates — every essential is here. The forecast calendar makes the next seven days obvious at a glance.

focus · measurable

Streaks, adherence rates, and skip rates built on an event-sourced log. Stop guessing how consistent you have been — see it in numbers.

Core features

Every detail serves capture-as-you-think

From rapid entry to long-term tracking, with minimal friction.

Capture

One line beats three screens of tapping

Built-in natural language parsing for English and Chinese. Time ("tomorrow 3pm"), tags ("#work"), priority ("!" to "!!!") — all on one line. Hit send and it is filed.

  • Dual-language NL parsing
  • #tags, ! priorities, free-form dates
  • Need more details? One tap opens the full editor with your text seeded
Forecast

Calendar forecast · add right where you tap

Open Forecast, select tomorrow or a Saturday, and a quick-add bar appears at the bottom — default due time is that day at 17:00. Capture momentum never breaks.

  • Month grid + scrollable next-7-days
  • Inline add for the selected day
  • Smart 17:00 default, overridable by typing
Adherence

Event sourcing · every check-in is auditable

Every complete, skip, and re-open is an append-only event. Streaks, adherence rates, and skip rates are derived from the log — fully replayable, never lossy.

  • Streaks / adherence rate / skip rate
  • Per-subtask stats, not just the parent
  • Event log is exportable for audit
Complete

Everything a task manager should have

Subtasks, tags, attachments (images, files), recurrence (daily, weekly, custom), estimates, due-with-time, local notifications — nothing missing.

  • Multi-level subtasks with reorder
  • Inline attachments: images, docs, voice memos
  • Recurrence down to "Mon/Wed/Fri"
Local-first

Your data, on your device, backed up to your own cloud

Everything lives on-device. Optional auto-backup runs over Google Drive OAuth (PKCE, 24h cold-start throttle) — backups land in your own Drive, never touch our servers.

  • Encrypted MMKV local storage
  • Google Drive backup via OAuth only
  • No accounts, no servers on our side
Migration

OmniFocus import · meeting notes · voice capture

Migration-friendly: drop in an OmniFocus CSV export. Paste a meeting transcript and watch it split into project + tasks. Optional AI voice capture with your own OpenAI-compatible endpoint.

  • OmniFocus CSV import
  • Meeting notes bulk parser
  • Optional AI voice capture & enhancement
Story behind the name

Why "Modocus"?

Modocus is built from the core syllables of memo + do + focus — Mo · do · cus.

Those three words are also the three stages of the product: first capture the loose thought, then break it into doable steps, finally execute with focus.

A tool that connects "thinking it" → "doing it" → "keeping it up" deserves a name that hides that arc inside.

Pronounced /moʊˈdoʊkəs/

Privacy promise

Local-first · your data, your call

Everything lives on your device

No server, no account. Tasks, attachments, and event logs are stored locally in encrypted MMKV storage.

Backups go to your own Google Drive

Auto-backup is opt-in. OAuth PKCE talks directly to Google; backup files land in your Drive — we hold no relay credentials.

No analytics · no tracking

No Firebase, no Sentry, no third-party SDKs. Crash logs stay local until you choose to share them.

FAQ

You probably want to know

How much does Modocus cost?

Free at launch. Long-term pricing leans toward one-time purchase or staying free — no subscriptions.

Where is the data stored? Do I need an account?

Fully local (encrypted MMKV). No account required. Backup is optional and runs over Google Drive OAuth, landing files in your own Drive.

Can I migrate from OmniFocus / Things / Todoist?

OmniFocus CSV exports import directly. Things / Todoist can route through OmniFocus or standard CSV. Meeting transcripts can also be pasted in bulk.

When will it ship to the App Store?

iOS is in private beta now. App Store release is expected Q3 2026. Google Play follows shortly after.

Will there be a Web / Mac version?

iOS and Android first. Web and native macOS are on the roadmap, but local-first sync needs careful design — we will not rush them.

How does it differ from Things or OmniFocus?

Three things: (1) adherence as a first-class metric — streaks and skip rates are built in; (2) event sourcing — every change is replayable; (3) optional AI voice capture with your own OpenAI-compatible endpoint.

Is it open source?

Selected modules (NL parsing, event log format) are planned for open source. The core app stays closed to preserve product direction.
